Link: http://www.hannagram.com/visionaries/Remember the cool cartoon show on Channel 2, where a wizard named Merkynn guided two groups of knights (Spectral Knights and the Darkling Lords). Each of the knights can change into certain animal forms and carry powerful totem staves? (Too bad it was dubbed in Filipino. I would have wanted to watch the cartoon in the original English format)
The Visionaries website contains stuff about the cartoon series, as well as PDF files of the complete comic book series. Fans of the series would enjoy visiting this site.

 | This was one of my frustrations too! I really wanted to see the show in English. I wonder why the studios insist on dubbing English shows in Tagalog when people here need to master English? The Call Centers are desperate for people who can speak the language well and all they get are those who can mouth a few phrases in fake American accents. Watching shows in English was how I got to master the language. People still ask me if i studied abroad! Duh! |
 | I think I remember watching it in english, initially. When it was dubbed in tagalog, most of what I remember was sort of
"Ang mga pana, ganon din ang mga sibat; hindi magwawagi sa aking Mortal Shell!!"
and also, I remember one of the darkling lord's minions grudgingly singing "Ako ang nasisisi... ako ang laging maykasalanan..." |
 | I found the Filipino dub hilarious. Having seen the series in both dubs, I've found that it works for me either way.
The really hideous animated cartoon in the original English dub was the Inhumanoids. I could not for the life of me take the show seriously. When the jokers at ABS-CBN made the Filipino dub, it became so much better because it was so much easier not to have to.
Favorite Visionary characters: 1. the Chick with the Shark totem (wondering exactly what this tells me about myself) 2. Merklyn -because he's a role model for powerful DMs everywhere (gyp your players!) 3. Mortdred (Filipino Dub) - he was an entertaining loyally sycophantic fop in the English dub. In the Filipino dub he was an entertaining loyally foppish fairy. |
 | This was a major funstuff back when they were still trying out Filipino-dubbed shows. Sobrang aliw, kahit yung Inhumanoids, even if only for the lopsided translations & freaky mispronounced dubbing.
It definitely taught me how NOT to do translation & dubbing.
;P |
 | My gripe is that it didn't help teach people proper English either. Oh, all right, I am sour graping because I could not enjoy the show in Tagalog: the language got in the way. But I was young and arrogant then. |
 | OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG!
I love this show! And yes, even when it was tagalized by channel 4 (I rebelled at first, but it grew on me) |
 | Well, nothing beats (in a worse way) the translated show Sesame (not Batibot). And I quote:
A! - Mansanas! Ba! Saging! ... Wa! - Tubig!
Me and my brothers were literally in tears laughing... |

The same argument could be used for learning Japanese just better appreciate anime. I prefer the Viz dubs because I don't have to work so hard but my friends say that the original dialogue is so much better than the dubs. I am inclined to believe them, that's why I want to learn Japanese.
Trek in Tagalog is a great idea but I just don't trust the powers that be to use it to uplift our peoples' taste. I don't think they want an intelligent audience, just a captivated one. Wowowee still haunts me. |
 | It's not crazy. You're not crazy --well, not in that way anyway. If we weren't a little nuts, we would likely not have met. We all have to chase a star, Dek, and you're more than suited to find and snare yours. |
 | I found this quiz thingie!!! You are the Spectral Knight, Witterquick. You are the fastest guy around. Determined and don't believe in retreating. Your Animal is the Cheetah, and if you thought you were fast enough, your Staff Power is Lightspeed. Which of the Visionaries are you? brought to you by QuizillaTee hee... |
 | keltskross wrote on Feb 20, '06, edited on Feb 20, '06 You are Cryotek. Spectral Knight. You're one strong mofo and probably the only one to take on Cindarr. Thankfully unlike him you have brains. Kind hearted but quick on anger sometimes. You're a good person. Your animal is the Bear and your Staff Power is Strength. | But I don't want to be a blo egol... I want to be a blo wolp! You are Arzon. Spectral Knight. Very educated and like to help animals. you act very gentlemanly. You like to fly so your animal is the Eagle, because of your intelligence your Staff Power is Knowledge. Which of the Visionaries are you? brought to you by Quizilla |
 | tybalt1701 wrote on Feb 20, '06, edited on Feb 20, '06 you are Darkstorm. Lord of the Darkling Lords. Your animal totem is a big gigantic Mollusk that shoots energy blast from your mouth. Your power is Decay. Here is the power to summon it. Which of the Visionaries are you? brought to you by QuizillaI wonder what this means?!
