After a long work day, Jen and I decided to try out this Indonesian restaurant along Wilson Street in San Juan. We passed through this restaurant a couple of times before and thought it was a grill restaurant with an Indonesian theme. Apparently Sarong Bali servers more than just grilled or Indonesian food.

The restaurant has a bar and a dining hall which can accommodate up to two hundred people. We felt like we stepped into an authentic Indonesia restaurant. The design of the place was excellent. It had this exotic ambiance (except for the pop music being played in the background).

So we started ordering some food. We first got a hot and spicy seafood soup. It had tuna, shrimp, and bits of chili floating around. We thought we could handle the heat, but the soup was really super spicy (and hot).

We also ordered something from the bar called "Sunburn". It was rum mixed with cranberry juice and other fruits. But it tasted a lot like cough syrup. At least it help neutralize the spiciness of the soup.

After the soup came our dinner. Jen got herself some grilled fish and rice. The fish came with strips of cucumber and tomatoes, which were good to counter the spiciness of the sauce.

I ordered rice with some strips of chicken. I was happy with the presentation of the food and the size of the order. The chicken was cooked in coconut milk and it tasted really delicious.

After a wonderful dinner, Jen and I decided that we'll come back to Sarong Bali again . Hopefully we'll get to try the other dishes like goat's meat and the curry vegetables with pumpkin sauce.

I'd go there if only for the ambiance. I like the lighting.
